All three of mine are Canadian cars so they have 140km/h speedo's, translating roughly into 87.5mph...

I had one from a column shifted lesabre a while back too, I'll have to see if I still have a pic (I sold it on Ebay)

I really liked the digital from our '90 Park Avenue (R.I.P. Idiots shouldn't be allowed to have licenses)

As you may be aware, there was some legislation in the 80's placing a MAXIMUM of 85 mph on speedos. (See 80's camaros for example) This had something to do with discouraging speeding (like that worked!) and was lifted in the late 80's.

Does anyone else know any details about this one? :-?

Just curious I guess...

Does anybody have a pid of the digital gauge cluster for the LeSabre/ Park Avenue? Is it like the digital type from a Turbo Regal? If it is, then I won't care for it.

i remember sending the pin out for the lesabre cluster and the BLT to someone. No, the regal and the lesabre are wire differently. i have the pin out of the 89 buick park ave and the 89 lesaber/BLT.

I too have the 85mi in my '87 - I'll probably end up dealing with it for the most part since when my car is complete it's not going to be a daily driver...

I've thought about getting another pillar to make a custom 3 guage pillar which would have mph, boost, as well as tranny temp - but that would sort of kill the "classic" look of the t-types...

According to my GM Parts and Illustration Catalogue for Buick C & H bodies 1985 thru 1990, the 1989 H bodies with the Digital Cluster Option had a Code U52.

My '86 Limited has a digital dash, Code U19, for export with Trip Odometer. It is switchable from Standard to Metric, and only goes upto 140 Km/H or 85 MPH. Production Number for '86: 25081211.

I recently just put a 100 mph cluster into my 87 thinking it was a plug and play. The first drive everything seemed ok. But the second time I turned the car on, my fuel gauge goes past full and my temp goes wayy past the low temp. I checked the pins on the back of both clusters and they all had the same wear marks. Maybe something got loose?

Hey Blake,
Maybe because the 100 mph cluster came out of an 89 and will not work on a 87 BLT?. Its only a thought:-)

Hello,
The copper contacts get some oxidation on them. Try cleaning them with a pencil eraser and put it back in.
Thanks - Peter
